For some, celebrating those who are no longer alive may seem like a somber thing, but for Mexicans, the Day of the Dead is one of the most beautiful and meaningful traditions. In recent years, this unique holiday has captured hearts around the world, attracting those who wish to live this mystical experience during the months of October and November.

At The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences, on November 2, we brought this tradition to the heart of Playa del Carmen on the best rooftop in the city, offering our guests a night full of meaning and magic.

A night full of tradition and magic

The evening began with the creation of an altar of the dead, a fundamental symbol in this celebration, dedicated to honoring great figures who are no longer with us. This solemn moment was accompanied by a small ceremony that allowed attendees to immerse themselves in the spiritual essence of the Day of the Dead.

To complement the experience, live music filled the atmosphere with a vibrant and emotional energy, making each moment an unforgettable memory. The food and drink stations offered an exquisite selection of typical seasonal flavors, such as pan de muerto and traditional drinks that delighted each guest.

Transformed into colorful catrinas

The catrinas, icons of this festivity, played a special role in our celebration. Attendees had the opportunity to become colorful catrinas, highlighting the joy and connection between life and death that characterizes this tradition.

A link between the living and the dead

For Mexicans, the Day of the Dead is much more than a celebration; it is a way to keep alive the connection with those who have left us, remembering them with love and joy. Those who lived this experience at The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences agreed that the magic of this holiday is something incomparable, a time to reflect, celebrate and honor life in all its forms.
